Mental hum . . .

I'm always thinking. Sometimes I wish I could stop thinking. It's not unusual for me to wake up in the morning and lie in bed for anywhere from a half hour to an hour just thinking. One of my strengths (according to Buckingham & Clifton, authors of Now, Discover Your Strengths, strengths finders test) is "intellection." Some of the phrases they use to define intellection are:
  • mental activity
  • exercising the "muscles" of your brain, stretching them in multiple directions
  • doesn't necessarily dictate what you think, but simply that you like to think
  • introspective
  • may lead to a slight sense of discontent as you compare what you are actually doing with all the thoughts and ideas your mind conceives
  • mental hum is one of the constants in your life

With that said, I hope to use this blog as one of the places to exert my mental hum. Hopefully it will fulfill the slight discontent of what to do with all my thoughts - at least I'll be putting them into words, which at least makes some sense out of my thinking.

So, on this blog you'll be the benefactors of my brain stretching in muliple directions - my thoughts about God, my faith, life and family - these are the things I think about most, love the most and live for.

I'll come over here for a mental workout from time to time... but not in summers when I exercise my body and let my brain get fat (I do the exact opposite in the winter) ;-)

After 9 years it seems the picture of you is becoming brighter, how fun. It reminds me of my 2 oldest daghters, now in their 30's as I some times struggle to see who they are as unique individuals. Our second daughter is a writer, much like you, with her brain always a-workin! As I watch and appreicate you creative people and your gifts, know you are a designed blessing to the Body of Christ!
Look forward to your entries.
