Gotta Love Toyotas

A few weeks ago Dennis and I were walking around the lot at a Toyota dealership in Indy. A gray-blue Toyota Highlander caught my eye, and it was love at first sight.

So, while Dennis was out of the country I took it for a test drive. I checked Craigslist entering in the same year, same make and model, made some phone calls to make some comparisons and decided to go for it. So, here's my new car!

Now, some of you may not have shown interest in the vehicle. Here's why. It's a 2002, so 10 years old. It has high mileage. We're talking 146,000 miles. But, I liked the fact that it has a good history - one owner, well-maintained, regular check-ups, and very clean.

But, even more than those reasons, you need to know that we have a 1996 Toyota Camry that we've had for 10 years and it's still going on 263,500 miles. We bought that car with 136,000 miles on it, have put only routine maintenance dollars into it, and it's still running strong. Before that we had a 1990 Camry that hit 250,000 miles until it finally died years after it had been passed on to Julie.

Now that I've bought the Highlander, Julie's going to inherit the '96 Camry. Who knows? They've been known to hit 300,000.

If the Highlander takes me to 264,000 miles like the Camry has so far, I'm in good shape!

Gotta love a Toyota! :)

Yep, Toyota cars are definitely sturdy, long-lasting cars! You made a great choice with your new car. Some people are a little wary of used cars, but it’s just a matter of finding the right used car dealership. The very best used car dealers have only the best cars in their dealership, and can help the customers save a ton of money. Besides, choosing a used car would be easier than choosing a new car, because there would be a wider range of makes and models to choose from.

Nita’s right! Toyotas are made to last for years, especially if you maintain it properly. Buying a used car is definitely the better option than buying a new one because aside from being cost effective, most used cars are in great shape. It’s like buying a brand new one for less! The key is finding the right car and inspecting it properly to make sure it’s running perfectly. Congrats on your new Toyota! =)

I have a Toyota Highlander too, Gwen! Like you, I was so happy when I bought it. It’s definitely a big change of scenery for me since I used to drive an old Chevy. I am now enjoying smoother drives and no engine problems so far. =)
