The Way of the Shepherd

You would think a book entitled The Way of the Shepherd is about the 23rd Psalm. Or maybe about Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Would you think leadership?

Kevin Leman, author of The Birth Order Book and Sheet Music, to name a few, went outside of his usual writings on marriage and family to co-author with William Pentak on leadership.

This has been another short-flight-read, but one that will go a long way in life. It may just make my annual read list.

Told in story form, one businessman shares what he learned from a respected professor (also a rancher with a small flock of sheep) when he was just graduating as a young MBA student. An excellent read, full of insights and wisdom, taken from time-worn practices of shepherding sheep. This is where the leadership management comes in. It isn't the first time people have been linked to sheep. Maybe it's the simple and creative way the concepts are taught that make it a delightful read, but the wisdom gained on managing productive people may very well be the best I have ever read.
