The Hearts of Kings

One of the books that Dennis and I came across over 20 years ago is A Tale of Three Kings, by Gene Edwards. It has become an annual read for us. In the past month I have read it twice. It's a quick read, but leaves long-lasting impact. I read it through on a less than two hour flight to Switzerland, and read it again on the flight back. It's a thought-provoking read. A thorough heart examination. Especially for leaders.

Written in narrative form, the author tells the story of Saul, David, and Absalom. So much in the book stands out to me, but perhaps this quote made by David in the story line has stuck with me the most.
I desire His will, not His power. I desire the will of God more than a position of leadership.
It's a sobering reminder of the ways of the heart.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4.23NLT

Thanks for the book idea... and the free book link. It's downloading now and I'll start listening while I do dishes tonight!

Thanks Larry for this tidbit about the free download. Dennis just gave this book to all his leaders during a recent gathering.

Let me know what you think of it Sarah.
